Everyone gathered at the Aveley Sports & Social Club for an evening of awards and entertainment, when the prizes were given out for the achievements on the 2004-2005 season.
A late start saw the evening finish with little time for dancing, but what went before had made it a truly great night. First off, some teams and guests had trouble finding their way to the venue (in the wilds of Aveley!) but this did not detract from the fun of the evening. Dinner was very good and the sherry trifle, impressive.
Then it was the turn of our special guest for the evening, England, Chelsea & Southampton legend, Peter Osgood to regale us with tales gained from his illustrious career. The highlight for me was his recall of an incident involving the late, great Iain Hutchinson who was blighted by injuries throughout his career. In "whacking" a defender who had given him grief throughout the match he unfortunately broke his arm in the forearm smash! There were many more stories which Peter recounted of his many experiences with the likes of his close friend Bobby Moore, the lads from the Kings Road and his call up for England duty.
Peter duly obliged the autographs on memorabilia, and stayed the whole evening to present the awards and chat to the guests. For his commitment to the ESFC on a long night, we are grateful for his efforts.
Next up on stage was The Mad Hatters who blasted on and kept up a tempo that was very much appreciated by the audience. Managing to find some game victims, their set and performance earned them a terrific reception from the audience.
THE MAD HATTERS, 2005
Following the Mad Hatters, we held the draw and a Charity Auction which raised a lot of money for Newham Children's Hospice as well as a special Children's Charity on behalf of Peter Osgood. We must say a huge thank-you to all the people who took part in the auctions for some memorable and exclusive items.
Then it was on to the main event, the awards to the Cup Winners and Divisional Top Two. In order, the teams came up to collect their awards (the photographs are posted and available for purchase from RJ Photographic).
Some of those photos are captured here.
