Heathside
United
were crowned champions for
the second successive season last weekend when James Leverett
notched the only goal of a tight game with South Ilford
Catholics and therefore the trophy was proudly retained after
yet another solid season.
There may be further cause
for celebration this week as they seek to add the elite Premier
Cup to their cabinet but face the might of Ideal, who captured
their second piece of silverware in 2008 on Monday when
defeating Athletic Elan to land the Ernie George Trophy.
It is sure to be a good night
at Dagenham & Redbridge on Weds 7th May from 7pm.
But for the moment,
congratulations once again to the reigning, and now retaining
Senior Division Champions, Heathside United.

CHARLIE WHITE CUP
Congratulations to
South Ilford Catholics who, today, made it
through to their third successive Charlie White Cup
Final. A fantastic achievement for any team and I know
the whole organisation will be proud. Well done to Ron &
the lads.
South
Ilford Catholics 2, Heathside United 1

CHARLIE WHITE CUP
Congratulations to Ideal
FC, who cruised into a repeat of the 2006 final
with a 4-1 demolition of Eastway today. I spoke to the
Secretary of Ideal today who told me they are so much
looking forward to going back to Cricklefields and a
chance to avenge the loss to the men in green. It should
add up to a cracking tie with two very good in-form
teams. Check this site for the date of the match.
Medhurst FC
(Senior Division)
London Sunday
Intermediate Cup, Semi-Final
Medhurst 1,
AFC Royals 2
The flag was taken
down on the last representative in this competition when
Medhurst were defeated despite holding the upper hand for
most of the game. The ESFC team even held the lead at
half-time but eventually were forced into making a change
which maybe affected their all-round effectiveness. All the
hard work was undone by a free-kick and an opportunist
strike but the visitors will count themselves more than
fortunate to leave with the victory despite arriving with a
fearsome reputation. This result will be a major
disappointment to Andy, Tim & the squad but maybe lady luck
deserted them at the wrong time.

APPEAL
Following an
interview last evening information has come to light which
has led to a reversal of our decision to previously award
games. Those matches affected are Makeway vs Global
and Makeway vs Medhurst, both of which are now to be
rescheduled before the end of the season. The challenges of
the other two matches (vs AC Keys and vs South
Ilford Catholics) were unsuccessful and those remain
unchanged. AC Keys will meet Heathside in the next round of
that competition. The date to be advised.

Highgrove
United
Following the
special vote at the last league meeting, Highgrove United have
unfortunately found themselves removed from the Essex Sunday
Football Combination. It is always unfortunate when these things
are brought to a head but we believe, as was indicated in the
strength of the vote, that it was the right thing to do in light
of several adverse reports regarding their involvement not only
with us but Essex County too. All their results have now been
expunged from the records for 2007-08 and the league table is
up-to-date. All cup games that they would have contested have
been awarded.
